How to make a Piñata?

Decorated then filled with surprises and candy, the Mexican Piñata is traditionally smashed to reveal its content, and has been for hundreds of years. That's why it's made with brittle supplies such as cardboard, paper maché or clay.

Used on some occasions and celebrations in Mexico, the Piñata is traditionally filled with surprises, then smashed to reveal its content. A box is made with resistant fabrics, but fragile enough to be cracked by a few light strokes with a stick. It can be shaped in many different ways and is often very colourful and decorated with crepe paper. It can be filled with confettis, sweets or toys as well as with any kind of things.

Tips before starting:

  • Keep an opening to fill the Piñata.
  • Use resistant yet fragile enough supplies that can be broken by a few strokes.
