How to change guitar strings?

Your guitar doesn't sound the same or the strings are dirty, so it's time to replace them. These tutorials will help you restring your guitar whether it's an acoustic, classical, electric or bass guitar.

Our recommendations:

  • Choose a set of string according to the type of guitar.
  • Change the whole set of string in one time, even if only one string is damaged.
  • Don't remove the old strings by cutting them first because the guitar neck may be damaged by the sudden change of pressure.
  • Install every new string as soon as you've removed the old one.
  • Replace the string alternating between a low string (thick) and a treble one (thin) to even out the tension on the guitar neck.
  • Loosen the new set of strings manually to prevent them from becoming out of tune too fast when starting to use them.
